This group really isn't the place to ask that question.
Try asking in snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.communicator

This group is devoted to work on the open source
Mozilla browser project, and not for Communicator
or other earlier versions of the Netscape browser.

That said, I kind of doubt it's DirectX, because I
don't think Netscape 4.x uses any DirectX calls.
