Hey all,

Before I begin, is it just me or . . . does the new 6.0 hog the screen
with intrusive side bars? I finally went back to my comfy old 4.75
because I can't STAND this AOL-modeled billboard approach and couldn't
figure out how to ditch it. Weigh in if you're inclined to opine.

Okay, I went over to the Micrografx web site to attempt to get into one
of their proprietary Forum groups to post a technical question about a
product of theirs that I'm using. Set up my User ID and password, then
clicked Submit.

What I got back was a Lotus Notes Server Error stating that my
Certificate didn't match my identity and (here's the part I appreciated
the most) . . . that "I am someone not to be trusted" posting to their
group. I don't make this up kids, try it for yourself.

Now, when I went into the "Security Info" menu of Netscape 4.75 it listed
some options. Noteworthy was the absence of any files, ANYWHERE on my
computer with the extension ~.p12. I figured, hey, I can just import one
of these stupid things, right?

Uh, wrong. A quick hop over to the Netscape-linked security site
revealed a number of vendors selling this service.

Look, I'm not a Fortune 500 business (I don't have a Server, let alone a
Network). I'm just one lady who bought one of their products; isn't
going to bomb their headquarters; and doesn't want to have to go to the
DRACONEAN extreme of outfitting myself for a Safari up the Congo . . .
when all I need to do is go up to the corner Mini-Mart and post one lousy
technical question to these turkeys!!

Anyone else encountered this? My God, has it come to this? Geez I've
never seen such corporate paranoia. Isn't there something for the home
computer user with her one little Pentium that I could use here?
Verisign. What do I look like, Best Buy? Let me know if there is any
sensible way of dealing with this brick wall, and post it for the group.

Thanks all,
Angel
