I have a question for those of you running Netscape Directory Server 4.12 under Solaris 7. We large environment with approximately 8,000+ users. We are currently running Netscape Directory Server 4.05 under Solaris 2.51 with no issues. However, we have recently configured a Solaris 7 (UE60 for those who are interested) server with Netscape Directory Server 4.12. The problem is this.. When we point our users to the new Directory Server, it works for a short period of time until it is put under "load". It then lasts for about an hour and a half before it will no longer allow binds. The current system (Sol 2.51, DS 4.05) is the same hardware platform with less memory than the new system and yet does not incur the same problem. We've worked with both Netscape and Sun on this issue with minimal results. Essentially, we can prolong the time before the Directory Service stops responding but the issue stills remains. Sun and Netscape also suggested a number of tcp tuning parameters which we were interested to learn about but did not immediately benefit us. I would be happy to go into more detail as required. I can even provide copies of my current slapd.conf and any other related data. However, keep in mind that with no settings changed and the only differences being the version of the OS and DS, the current system (Solaris 2.5.1 and DS 4.05) works fine under the same load. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Matt Beason Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/
