Cannot connect to SSL sites with PSM

If I start Mozilla in a xterm in the background i can see the messages
I get message that says..

Error Loading https:\\(URL) 8007000e

I installed the latest build i think.  Build ID 2000122717 and istalled
 PSM as root user but it wont let me get into sites that require SSL. 
 Any help would be much appreciated.  

I can go to SSL sites with Netscape but I like the feel of Mozilla 
much better.
