I used Quicktime 4.1.2 and was "never able" to hear any form of sound.
(despite repeated reinstalls of Quicktime.)
Mac G4-500 (system OS 9.04) 256 Mb RAM, ATI Rage 128 agp Graphics Card.
was not able to hear sound until I started using Quicktime 5 this
applied both for "Mozilla" and Netscape6.
