You don't say what build you're using, but
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69009 describes a problem with
slow bookmark loading. This was fixed in builds towards the end of February.
Try a new build and see if your problem is gone.

Anyone can get a bugzilla account and file bugs. Use the "Report a Bug" link
at the top of http://bugzilla.mozilla.org and be sure to search for
duplicates first.
