What *I'm* wondering is: why would you NOT be able to settle in and stay
with it? Why would you be "stuck"? Just do it and keep using it! Some
people still use Netscape 1.1N for crying out loud!

Uhh, huh? Why would it NOT be safe? It's not like the software will
magically delete itself. Even if mozilla.org would one day stop making
Mozilla, the source code is still around and anyone can hack on it and
do whatever they want.
No offense but you sound a little paranoid. We're just talking about a
web browser for chrissakes! It's not like you're going to die if you
have to use Internet Explorer five years from now. Relax and open a
window or something.
