I've now done that.

Well this is what I can't work out. The installations of Java and Flash
*look* just fine:
# ls -l /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
total 20
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 46 Oct 14 2000 ShockwaveFlash.class ->
/usr/lib/netscape/plugins/ShockwaveFlash.class*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 Oct 14 2000 cpPack1.jar ->
/usr/lib/netscape/plugins/cpPack1.jar*
drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Jan 23 10:07 java2/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 43 Oct 14 2000 libflashplayer.so ->
/usr/lib/netscape/plugins/libflashplayer.so*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 69 Jan 23 10:07 libjavaplugin_oji.so ->
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 16224 Apr 9 21:54 libnullplugin.so*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 Oct 14 2000 xanim.so ->
/usr/lib/netscape/plugins/xanim.so*
# ls -l /usr/lib/netscape/plugins/
total 1008
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 2363 Mar 25 23:12 ShockwaveFlash.class*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 57089 Aug 15 2000 cpPack1.jar*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 947992 Mar 25 23:11 libflashplayer.so*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 8632 Jan 10 2000 xanim.so*
This is just how things were before I installed RealPlayer 8, and Java and
Flash were working fine.
However, if I start mozilla from a terminal I can see that the only plugin
that gets registered is libnullplugin.so:
# mozilla
Registering plugin 0 for: "*","All types",".*"
Registering plugin 0 for: "*","All types",".*"
and about:plugins lists only:
Default Plugin
File name: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnullplugin.so
The default plugin handles plugin data for mimetypes and extensions that are not
specified and facilitates downloading of new plugins.
Mime Type Description Suffixes Enabled
* All types .* Yes
Somehow, I guess I have to "re-register" the plugins with mozilla, but that
is weird 'cos I thought that simply having the files in the appropriate
directories was sufficient (that was, after all, all I had to do to install
the Flash plugin in the first place).
Any pointers or tips?
Thanks a lot,
Darren
