An application called Sensiva <http://www.sensiva.com> allows you to 
perform several similar gestures in Netscape 4.x, IE, and older versions 
of Opera as well as all kinds of other software.  It's a really nice 
application.  

Unfortunately, it causes a minor problem with Opera 5.1 - it doesn't seem 
to detect the unclicking of the right mouse button after performing the 
back command.  A simple click however releases the mouse.
