You're thinking of Netscape 4.x not mozilla which is what the group is
about. In mozilla we use ctrl not alt to be more like gnome/kde
keybindings that tended to be similar to their windows counterparts.
This decision was not taking lightly but quite a few X people want to
return to the days of using ALT. It's possible to change from ctrl to
alt bindings in Mozilla but I can't remember how off the top of my head.
As for bringing it back in 4.x, the 4.x range of browsers are unlikely
to be updated past the 4.77 version unless a security update is needed.
Netscape 6 is based on Mozilla, but an old release of it. The next
Netscape release should be 6.5 which will be a big improvement over 6.0
but I doubt the customisable toolbars will be available by that release.
