We, as public testers, are constantly told upon complaining/reporting
problems: "Don't use nightlies, they are too unpredictable. Wait for
the Milestones." But as things are now, even the milestones are
unpredictable. I don't see this post as flamebait, but as an
observation. I don't mind missing/incomplete features in the
Milestones, but I don't expect the trouble I've been having the last few
months. And I don't expect to have to spend half my time trying to get
it to work. No one's going to test this thing under these conditions.
Again, I have the highest regard for the Browser half of Mozilla. It
absolutely kicks ass. All my gripes (AND talkback filings (4 so far
today)) are with Mail/News. I see the great potential of Mail/News and
when it "is" working, I love it. I'm just that much more bothered when
it crashes more as time goes on rather than less. (and I am talking
about Milestone .9, not the nightlies) You see how great this is when
using it, and 2 hours later is crashes so hard you have to delete the
whole thing, kill registry.dat, kill the .msf files, reinstall,
reconfigure all your mail, newsgroups, profiles, etc. etc. etc.
I expect "some" trouble with Moz, but when the usable time is outweighed
by the setup/configuring/REinstalling/REconfiguring time...
I also consider it idiotic when people using only the browser half weigh
in with "I'M not having any problems!" Please.
