IE is going to need to catch up. Mozilla's speed is improving every day.
Mozilla's memory use is already at or below that of IE if you count everything
IE uses. Personally, new-window-spawn speed needs to improve (known bug, being
worked on) and startup time, although that's already been chopped in half since
6 months ago.
The IE Javascript engine is SHIT. Recently I've been testing some sites, and my
own personally designed javascript based games, and IE just sucks at scripting.
Plus, despite IE5 appearing on a couple platforms, there plug-in API sucks too.
There's just nothing cross platform about IE.
And the rendering engine is getting very long in the tooth. NS kept beating on
the dead horse that was their old rendering engine for years too long, and IE is
following suit. Not a good idea.
