I have heard of such problems, and I've also heard folks recommend that
you not install the VIA drivers if you've installed Windows 2000 SP2. I
think the logic there is that the SP2 driver works perfectly fine, and
there's no need for the VIA driver. What finally pushed me over the
edge, was an older post to the alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.soyo
newsgroup, in which the gentleman that sold me my board recommended the
VIA driver for UDMA compatibility. Because of the potential "issues", I
first tried it on a backup drive (same WIN2K installation), and it
worked perfectly. Finally, my drives are running in UDMA mode! To be
honest, if I didn't have a spare/backup drive ready to go, I probably
wouldn't have tried it.

Apologies for the off-topic nature of my original post, but my

point was simply: If you run Mozilla, have performance issues, and do
not have UDMA enabled, you'll likely see a real performance improvement
if you can enable it. Naturally, the performance of the whole system
will improve, but this is one app where I really see/feel it.
