The only reason *I* never installed it, is that there always seem to be 

conflicting opinions as to whether it's necessary. Since the system was 
working well (though in PIO mode), I didn't want to run the risk of 
hosing the system. I know my way around WIN9x versions pretty well, but 
I still consider myself a Windows 2000 "newbie". As such, I tend to 
proceed with caution.
