About signatures

There have been enough posts about signatures and where they should be, 
at top or at bottom. I don't want to start off another thread about 
that. But recently I noticed something while forwarding an HTML mail. 
The forwarded message showed up (in compose) as

<mail header>
my signature
<html message>

Isn't this plain wrong?
