I have a hard time taking thecounter.com stats seriously, because they
had Netscape 5.x on the charts for a long time. Since their UA
recognition algorithm isn't public, who knows what other blunders they
have made?

BTW, I have written a small tool for counting server hits per layout
engine: http://www.hut.fi/u/hsivonen/LayoutEngineCounter/

I call it beta, because it hasn't been fully tested.

Usage:
java PreprocessCombined < access_log | java LayoutEngineCounter >
engines.html

Where access_log is in the "combined" format and hits to URLs ending
with "/" or ".html" are considered hits.
