I'm sure I'm not the first one to start this issue.
I'd like all Free browsers (Mozilla, Mozilla-derivatives, Konqueror,
maybe some others) to share some basic data: bookmarks, cookies,
global and per-domain cookies accept/reject, then maybe browsing history,
proxies, mail account info etc.
It seems it wouldn't be very dificult. Some XML format is needed,
standard place for it (like ~/.anybrowser), some file locking system
and some conflict resolution algorithm more elaborated than `last
browser to close overwrites all settings'.
XML would allow browsers to extend data format without making it
incompatible with other browsers.
All browsers could use the same code for locking/conflicts resolution,
which would guarantee that they stay compatible.
Are there any efforts ongoing ?
If not, are there any problems other than nobody caring enough
to work on it ?
