I'm not sure what you meant when you said the system says you're running 
Java, but if you haven't, try typing about:plugins in the url bar. It 
will pull up a list of plugins that mozilla curently detects (also works 
with Netscape).

With Mandrake, you never really needed to download Java; the plugin is 
already included in the default install for netscape. Just create a 
symbolic link from
  /usr/local/netscape/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so

to

/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so



As for Real Player, I just started using it yesterday. I had a similar 
problem with cnn.com, which I posted to this ng. It was a simple a 
solution of clearing the cookies (Edit > Preferences > Privacy & 
Security > Cookies > View Stored Cookies).

It's behaved well for me so far; I did the rpm install and so far 
nothing buggy. I'm on Red Hat with the 2.4.3-12 kernel.
