I think you misunderstand me. Yes, the tab key highlights the drop-down
list, and yes the cursor keys will scroll through the list, but I
thought the original poster was asking how to open up the drop-down list
to reveal all the choices in the same way as clicking the triangle with
the mouse. I haven't found a key to do that.
Visit http://www.altavista.com and click on the 'Find This' text box (to
reduce the number of tabs required) then press tab to focus on the
drop-down next to it which currently has 'any language' in it. Pressing
the down arrow changes it to English, which is fine, but if you click on
the triangle to the right, you get the list opened up to reveal all the
choices: English, Chinese etc. Without the list opening up, it's like
working blind on a long list which could have several similar choices
requiring scrolling through them all to see what's available before
scrolling back and forward to hit the one you want. If the space key or
the enter key were to open up the list, this would be ideal as neither
key appears to do anything when focussed on this type of drop-down.
