I update my Mozilla almost everyday (Windows2000 Platform). Below is my
experience
(Remarks:I do not use Netscape 4.X after the first time I changed to
Mozilla)
1. Download new Mozilla
2. Unzip the .zip to a MozillaMMDD folder
3. Rename the old Mozilla folder to MozillaMMDD-1
4. Rename MozillaMMDD to Mozilla
5. Copy all files from the old plugin folder to the new one
For some reason the old profile does not work, I can migrate the mail
folder, address book and bookmark. I cannot migrate the sidebar or theme.
6. Manger Profile
7. Create new Profile
8. Exit Mozilla
9. The new profile should be in C:\Document and
Settings\yourname\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles. From date you can
know which one is the new profile folder
10. Rename the pref.js in the new profile folder to pref.js.bkp
11. Copy the Mail Folder, IMAP folder, abook.mab, bookmarks.html and pref.js
12. Try to start Mozilla. If the pref.js works, it works! (then you can
delete the old profile after it run smoothly after several days)
13. If the pref.js not working, you need to manually add email account
then copy the mail folder again.
