Its not the 6.1 part that is important here, it is the preview release part. 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2 are all final releases and should have no expiry date. The preview releases are not as good quality as a final release (yes, I know the 6.1 preview was better than 6.0), so they are set to expire well after the final release has come out, forcing people to upgrade (which is good, for the type of people who run preview releases).
