Well, one new thing: I saw someone else complaining that they
couldn't get into any SSL sites, and realized that an installation
I'd done for a friend wouldn't load an SSL site, either. I didn't
install the Security Manager, as I didn't want anything but the
core browser. Apparently, though, not installing that disables all
HTTPS access, which seems kinda stupid to me, as a browser without
this it is pretty useless. In any event, I reinstalled, adding the
Security Manager, and now the login button works, however, it would
then just prompt me for my password again. That's progress, but no
enough!

So, I tried with NS 4.08, which had previously worked just fine,
and found that it was not logging in properly, either, so I assumed
something was temporarily wrong with Hotmail. I just checked again,
and the same problem is there.

Well, now I just tried connecting directly, bypassing WebWasher,
and it all went through without a problem.

So, I have to figure out what exactly WebWasher is filtering that
is prohibiting the connection. It's clear that some change I made
to my WebWasher configuration is the reason that both browsers were
failing, probably some cookie block or something.

But, I am now through to my Hotmail inbox using Mozilla.

Progress, at least.

I don't want to bypass WebWasher for this, though, since it's
easier to authorize just WebWasher to get through my firewall.

Yep, that was the problem after installing the security manager.

I just reconfigured WebWasher and now both browsers can get through
to Hotmail, and now from testing, I know that it was the WebWasher
cookie filter that was the problem for this second phase.

Conclusion:

1. I hadn't installed the security manager, which was why the SIGN
IN button did nothing.

2. After installing it, it wasn't letting me in because WebWasher's
cookie filter is not compatible with Hotmail.

Now I'm up and running, though it bothers me to not be able to use
WebWasher's cookie filter.

But, fortunately, the Mozilla cookie management is now nearly
enough to fully replace what WebWasher offered.
