The recommended way to do keywords is to create a bookmark.  See 
http://www.mozilla.org/docs/end-user/keywords.html

Preferences->Navigator->Smart Browsing-> Location Bar Autocomplete 
Either uncheck it completely or use advance to partially remove it(ie 
remove Search Line, but keep autocomplete based on history.)
