Well, I had precisely this problem with Hotmail -- I'd type in the
login in and the LOG IN button wouldn't do anything -- no error
message, no nothin'. 

Mozilla 0.9.3 had worked fine, because, apparently, I'd installed
the security manager. When I re-installed and included the security
manager, it then worked. 

If you have the security manager installed and it still doesn't
work, then obviously, that's not the problem.
