The dll + xpt files are the new plugin format. Viewpoints new plugin uses them (If you search for it in bugzilla). I believe this new format allows the plugins to be scripted without the need for LiveConnect being embedded in the JRE. So when real one is placing those files in the mozilla directory, it's just installing the new format of plugin.
