line - a row of text

frame - Some sites are subdivided into boxes which contain individual
.html files. These boxes are frames. The main page that loads them is
called a frameset. See http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/present/frames.html

inline - An element that does not interrupt the flow of text, images,
etc. Usually they are used to style text. Elements like <I>, <B>,
<EM>, <STRONG>, <SPAN> are inline. See
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/struct/global.html#h-7.5.3

block - An element which does interrupt the flow (usually by a line
break). Elements of this nature would include <IMG>, <P>, <DIV>, etc.
Again, see http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/struct/global.html#h-7.5.3

floater - An element which has been positioned so that text will flow
around it, usually by aligning it left, center, or right. See
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/present/graphics.html#idx-alignment-1

Element vs. Tag:
A tag is the actual "code" to begin or end an element. An element
consists of tags and the content inside the tags (if there is
content). See http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/intro/sgmltut.html#h-3.2

In the markup <P align="left">This paragraph</P>:

1. There are two tags, <P> and </P>
2. There is one one element, <P align="left">This Paragraph</P>
3. There is one attribute, align="left"

For more information about HTML in general, see the HTML 4.01 spec at
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/. See the Index for more help on terms.
