result: now select looks ugly and with 1.3b i cannot style it as i did with 1.2.
Are you using Windows? If so, chances are you're running into the native-form-control crap as far as the padding is concerned (as I said, I don't see the padding color problem on Linux).

but IMO this is wrong decision. what's the reasoning behind this? if
IE sucks at style <select>'s has mozilla to do the same? if no width is specified for the select then go for autosize, but when width is given
please honor it (at least in standards mode!).
Actually, the sizing of <select> did not change at all. The rendering of <input> changed. See

Please don't make comments like "back this out" or anything like that without providing good reasons for doing so... ;)
