I have a large number of Netscape 7.1 copies that need support and service. Many users have complained about the GDI Resource Leak in Windows. If I copied portions of Mozilla 1.4.1 over portions of Netscape 7.1, would that be in violation of the Netscape 7.1 License Agreement?

Specifically, I am concerned about the following section of the license:

3. RESTRICTIONS. Except as otherwise expressly permitted in this Agreement, or in another Netscape agreement to which Licensee is a party such as the Netscape Client Customization Kit License Agreement (the "CCK License Agreement") or a distribution agreement, such as the Netscape Browser Distribution Program License Agreement, Licensee may not: (i) modify or create any derivative works of the Product or documentation, including customization, translation or localization; (ii) decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code for the Product (except to the extent applicable laws specifically prohibit such restriction), or in any way ascertain, decipher, or obtain the communications protocol for accessing the AIM Service or the [EMAIL PROTECTED] Plus Service, or the underlying ideas or algorithms of the Product; (iii) redistribute, encumber, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise transfer rights to the Product; (iv) remove or alter any trademark, logo, copyright or other proprietary notices, legends, symbols or labels in the Product; . . . (vii) block, disable or otherwise affect any advertising, advertisement banner window, links to other sites and services, or other features that constitute an integral part of the Product or the Services;

I am concerned that fixing bugs in Netscape 7.1 could be constructed as a modification or customization which violates the license agreement. I don't want to upset AOL or break any legal agreements. I want to compare the source code from Mozilla 1.4 to Mozilla 1.4.1. Then, determine which files were changed and test to see if copying those files into the Netscape 7.1 installation improves reliability. I would not attempt to find the source code or decompile Netscape 7 or Mozilla. Instead I would compare two Mozilla ZIP-file installs to find differences and then test each different file-one at a time in Netscape 7. Also, if I do find any extremely useful fixes to Netscape 7, would it be legal to post them on a website? After all, any fixes would merely instruct users to overwrite a Netscape 7 file with a Mozilla 1.4.1 file. Please let me know if this project is legally permitted before I start doing any work with the files and comparison work. Thanks!
