Happens to me all the time - I can't do the alt. groups. any time I type
alt in there it thinks a short while, then dies. Still, maybe this is a
good thing - who's got time to read newsgroups all day, so maybe we
should think of this a feature not a bug. :-)
I'm wondering if it's a sensitivity to something in the way certain
ISP's present what constitutes the newsgroup list? I'm finding it on
freeserve.co.uk (news.freeserve.net .com?) as have others, looking at
the bug reports, but other people aren't finding it ever.
How about an example of a publically accessible news server that
exhibits this behaviour, and some of those people to whom it's never
happened to ever, could try these certain servers to see if it's to do
with whom you get your news from?
Just a thought.
