The ">"s in format=flowed msgs are only the on-the-wire format, part of
the protocol, not content. The UA can indeed use whatever is seems
appropriate. Since the content flows, vertical bars are the only
technical possibility Gecko offers at the moment. BTW: I don't know, why
anybody would object them for format=flowed.
