That particular phrasing is a bit in the negative tense - if you were a 
casual user or unfamiliar/just woken up, you might interpret it that you 
have no messages whatsoever. How about simply "check your inbox to see 
your mail!".

The account that one has selected as default could perhaps be given a 
(very light) happy colour as the background to that account's titles 
line of text in the account pane. Or give the twisty a different colour.
