I'm seeing status bar (but not throbber) activity with IMAP messages
with inline attachments.
I'm not seeing status bar activity with news messages with
attachments.
(for example, try news://news.mozilla.org/3A3D5A92.1946C919%40benway.com)
I've logged bug #63993 to track this.
