Kill thread is not unsubscribe.
you don't have to launch the subscribe dialog to unsubscribe. If a
newsgroup is selected in the folder pane and the folder pane has focus,
you can use "Edit | Unsubscribe". The context menu for a newsgroup in
the folder pane also has "Unsubscribe".

"Kill" thread is not implemented in mozilla yet. I'll log a bug on it.
