Hello!

When it is nice, that there is an implementation of the protocol
extensions (in Netscape's server) it will be interesting - and necessary
- to have a specification of some points:

1 - server and client protocol syntax (with XSENDER reverse
engineerable)

2 - usage, intent and expected policy of clients and servers.

Since the implementatiuon with Mozilla is obviously not really complete
(see bug #67779), such protocol extensions should be part of an RFC or
other search-engine-accessible document. For myself,
I only found an expired link:

http://help.netscape.com/products/server/messaging/3x/info/smtpauth.html

In DevEdge, there are some tables, too, but I didn't bind them very
useful.
Did You see any RFC-like document? I have seen comments in Bugzilla,
that the original implementation of these POP-extensions are part of
IMAP, but - my fault? - I found no appropriate RFC.

The IMAP part is important, for I plan to extend the Courier-IMAPD (with
which the Mozilla client has some protocol related problems for a long
time).

Any help will be welcome.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen / Yours sincerely

Marian Eichholz
