Curious, are you only launching mail & news?
there is a bug about localstore.rdf not being flushed to disk in certain
cases, and only launching mail & news (not browser) was one of them.
these things are persisted in your localstore.rdf

we don't persist that. log an RFE bug. we have to select and load your
inbox on your default account (if certain settings are set for the
default account).
