Can't send to smtp server on lan

I've just implemented a local mailserver and I'm testing it. I can't 
send to it from moz/20010806 on a WinNT box.  The server is postfix on a 
Debian box.  I can send from Moz to localhost on the Debian box and also 
from NS4.72 on the WinNT box without any problems.  The mail log on the 
server indicates a timeout after 5 minutes, and moz just sits there 
saying it's 'connecting'.

wtf?
