Because I also like to know what groups I'm in. BEcause I got
used to it in Communicator over the years, and I am rigidly
inflexible about giving up a feature which enhances my use and
enjoyment of the product.
Open up the group in Communicator 4.7x, and set for two pane
view: that bar not only tells me which group I'm in, I can use
it to change groups. Great feature. But if I have to give it
up, I'll use a newsclient that gives me other features to
balance the loss.
