Sorting Threaded emails

Hi guys,

If one sorts emails by thread, would it be possible to allow the system to
sort the emails depending upon date ?

ie all messages are grouped in threads, and the threads appear sorted in the
order of its newest member, eg, a thread from x months ago would come to the
top of the list if someone sent a follow up.

How difficult would it be to implement this in mozilla mail&news ?
