I've got a problem - I get quite a bit of "tagged" html based mail
and crap virus attempts
Previously, it's not been a problem, in that I used Emacs "RMAIL"
which has no rendering ability. That's both a blessing and a curse.
Those of you who have use PINE and ELM, or plain old "mail" know
exactly what I mean.
The advantage of these simple mail clients is that they do not
automatically render html mail, run java scripts, or go off and
pull that little gif image that proves to the spam-mister that you
viewed the mail just by looking at it.
The problem is I also get a number of emails that are in html from a
number of ligit html mail that I do want to render as html and pull the
images for.
100% disabling HTML is not an option, as I have to go back and forth
between countless menus.
Solutions like turning java off/on in various menus is not a practical
solution. I'd have to do this over and over... It's a real pain the
arse....
I'm between a rock and a hard place.
The place for this is in: Preferences -> Mail -> Message Display
There is a "Plaintext messages" selection - but no "HTML Messages" section.
What I want, but cannot find is:
a user preference for viewing mail that says:
Always Render incoming mail in plain text (Ignore the HTML)
(ie: By default: Render it like PINE, ELM, MUTT, or EMACS...)
When viewing email:
it would be nice if on the right click menu (or maybe a button)
a toggle that lets you switch between HTML rendering and
Plaintext (ie: PINE/MUTT/MAIL/RMAIL... whatever) rendering
for the specific message you are viewing right now.
-Thanks.
Duane.
