I'd certainly vote for this one.

One of the problems that I see is the linking of mail and newsgroups in 
many preferences/options.

I'd be happy with any html code being internally surrounded by <pre> .. 
</pre> tags and then rendered by the html engine if that's the easiest 
way to go.
