I am trying to set up Mozilla 0.9.4 on a Linux kernel 2.4.10 system. I have
a problem setting up localhost as mail- and newsserver.

Setting up localhost as the newsserver, I only get a message about the
server refusing the connection, when trying to subscribe to newsgroups. I
have KNode set as my newsreader now, and this program gets newsgroups and
newsmessages just fine from localhost.

My problem with setting up localhost as mail-server is not setting the
smtp-server. It's the options I get when I try to set up which way to
connect to the mail-server that should recieve the mail. I cannot see which
settings I should choose. The settings I have tried don't work. I use KMail
as my mail-client now, and this program sends mail through localhost as the
smtp-server and gets mails through localhost by fetching new mail from
/var/spool/mail/[username].

Why can't the newsreader connect to localhost?
Which settings should I use to get mail from localhost from
/var/spool/mail/[username]?
