There are programs out there that download hotmail e-mail and offer a local POP3 Server. But these programs have to be changes every time Microsoft changes the protocol. Once a lot of people start using it, it will be a constant cat and mouse game similiar to what is happening to the free AOL Instant Messenger alternative clients out there. Do you really want that? And you say yourself more or less that you get too many e-mails on that account. Maybe you should ask yourself if you are using the right e-mail account. There are a LOT of good ones out there that offer POP3, some even IMAP, a lot even support picking up your mail with SSL, and they do that for free. Now look what hotmail offers you. Almost everybody I know who has a hotmail account gets like 5-6 spam mails a day, that is with the SPAM filter turned on. With other accounts that somehow doesn't seem to happen nowhere near as often.
