That's not necessary -- simply include several alternative interfaces
in each release, when one fails go on to the next.  Then cycle through
those as they are uncovered, and when you make a new release you
include a new set of interfaces (which would actually be a plus for MS,
they undoubtably /want/ their users to upgrade to the latest version).

And of course there's always the old stand by -- sue the crap out of
whoever is reverse engineering the protocol; you may not have a case,
but they probably don't have the money (besides, you have to have the
lawyers to begin with, so it doesn't cost anything extra to use them).
