If you really want to install a "Web-Server" then there is nothing
better than a up-to-date configured Linux Machine with the Apache Web
Server on it.
Okay, you "can" install the components Apache, PHP, Perl for example
also on Windows, but most users I know did'nt make any good experiences
with it.

And if you want to learn "something new" (!), then you have to test out
Linux, even if it's at first in a dualboot system :-)

In our company we wanted also to give our intranet such a mailsystem for
mails interior. But we just found very costintensive products.

Just try out Linux. If you search for a web-server a unix-derivate is
the best you can use!
