Stepping WAY out of my personal knowledge base here, but I would assume 
that there must be functions for dealing with decoding attachments and 
saving them to disk.  I would imagine that the bulk of change would involve 
the removal of the attachments from the E-Mail itself.

Am I that far off from how such a change would be implemented if it were 
decided to be a reasonable thing to do?
