I'd love this feature, but there are two ways it might be implemented.
You seem to be suggesting that you'd like to create a tree of folders
with which each group could be associated, such as:
v-[ ] News
v-[ ] Computing
| v-[ ] Browsers
| >-[ ] Mozilla
v-[ ] UK Groups
v-[ ] Computing
| |-[ ] uk.comp.homebuilt
| '-[ ] uk.comp.misc
v-[ ] Local Groups
|-[ ] uk.local.bristol
>-[ ] uk.local.london
This can be likened to the Virstual folders that have been proposed in
several places, but I'm not sure if any progress has been made on them.
The other way simply takes the folder names from the existing hierarchy,
e.g.:
v-[ ] news.f9.net.uk
v-[ ] netscape
| v-[ ] public
| >-[ ] mozilla
v-[ ] uk
v-[ ] comp
| |-[ ] homebuilt
| '-[ ] misc
v-[ ] local
|-[ ] bristol
>-[ ] london
This is probably easier to implement, in that it doesn't need virtual
folders to be implemented first, and also doesn't need to maintain
mappings between newsgroups and their virtual folder. See also
