Two Ongoing Problems With NS 6.2.1

I really like NS 6.2.1 but continuously experience two problems:

1.  Sometimes after closing it, I can't reopen. Then, Windows 
says NS 6.2.1 is still running somewhere in the background. It 
then becomes necessary to reboot Windows to open NS 6.2.1.

2.  Switching to different newsgroups requires entering my user 
name and PW, despite checking off the "remember PW" preference.

Are there any fixes to these problems?
