I found out that the way to contain a directory that can contain
subfolders is to put a / at the end. So I created test/ an created a
mailbox called test within it. I was very proud of myself, and things
were very good.

The next time I read my mail on the server with pine, I noticed the test
directory, and decided to delete it. No problem. Until I opened mozilla,
and saw the test directory displayed. OK, I figured I could just open
the subscribe dialog, because I've noticed this behaviour before, where
mozilla lets you remain subscribed to folders that no longer exist. I
refreshed the list from the IMAP server, unchecked test, but it still
didn't go away. I did it again, I deleted the account and restored it, I
even upgraded to 0.9.8, but NOTHING I do will remove this directory from
this account. NO other mail client sees it, and it doesn't exist on my
server. Mozilla has convinced itself that the folder exists. How do I
convince it otherwise?
