Well, its useful to me. I normally view my personal mail (Inbox) and 
keep the news.mozilla.org server expanded so every time new messages get 
posted, I know about it. Then when I click on the newsgroup to see the 
messages, Mozilla downloads the headers for me. So its useful...for me 
at least. I don't know why you're not even seeing the account pane get 
updated. People on Win2K have said it works for them.
