The irony--as I middle-clicked to open this thread in a new tab, I got
a fatal exception! Oh well, it's the first I've had...

Anyway, the thread where I'm asking for ideas is here:
  http://www.emailaddresses.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2827

The major bugs Nigel is referring to are
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27002 and
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105385 . 27002 has a
duplicate at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117917 . The
duplicate is marked as a blocker targeted for 1.0, which is good, but
the original bug 27002 is untargeted... very confusing... 105385 isn't
targeted either, which is odd because it means that pretty much the
only IMAP server that works right is UW IMAP, and because the entire
fix is simply to stop appending the '/' character to the folder
path... If this bug isn't targeted for 1.0 then Moz 1.0 will major
bugs when used with most IMAP servers. The description of 117917 isn't
right, BTW, because Moz does understand NAMESPACE in that it correctly
identifies the Personal and Shared name spaces, but then it ignores
them when choosing the Sent and Drafts folders.

Other than that things are looking pretty good. Offline sync support
still isn't as good as OE in some ways (e.g. no way I can see to
specify which subset of folders are synced or checked for new
messages), and there's still little problems with the editor (both
TEXTAREAs in Gecko and the compose window in Mailnews) and
accessibility, but overall Moz is getting pretty close to being the
officially recommended IMAP client at FastMail.FM. We'll see how 1.0
looks, I guess...
